How to Get and Use the Machete

The machete is a story traversal tool. Finish its introduction, equip it at marked vegetation, and upgrade before attempting stronger roots.

The first machete is granted by story progression rather than a random drop. Once the tutorial completes, approach cuttable vines or roots and use the contextual tool input.

Thicker barriers can require the upgraded machete. If a marked path survives the normal tool, collect the requested lake material and finish the upgrade instead of attacking it repeatedly.
