Finish The Torn Bug Net to meet Udo and receive the Lesser Stag Beetle. To collect a wild beetle in Beetle Battles, challenge it and win the rock-paper-scissors match—the Bug Net cannot catch it.
The roster includes 15 regular beetles and two quest bosses. Compare Attack, HP, and Recovery below, but remember that your move choice still decides each clash.

Bring the net to Muna and complete the repair objective. Do not return to Lipah for this unlock.

No beetle wins every matchup because your rock-paper-scissors choice still matters. If you want a simple capture priority, start with the stat leaders below.
Each round uses a rock-paper-scissors relationship. If both beetles choose the same move, the stronger matching value wins the clash. Watch the first few rounds for a pattern instead of repeating one input.
Rosenberg's Golden, Antaeus, Metallic, and Atlas Stag Beetles share the temple route.
Inspect the wall near the entrance before running deeper into the dungeon.
The beetle is not guaranteed on each entry, so a short scene reset is faster than a full-area search.
Metallic Stag Beetle uses the dusk window; the other common temple rows can be checked during the day.

There are 17 battle beetles: 15 regular beetles and two quest bosses.
It cannot catch battle beetles. Defeat a wild beetle in the battle minigame to capture it; use the handheld Bug Net for ordinary insects.
Golden Tiger Beetle has the largest listed endgame values at 45 Attack and 280 HP, but it is the final mission boss rather than an early collectible choice.
The shared spawn is not guaranteed. Check the upper-right entrance area, leave and re-enter, and use dusk specifically for Metallic Stag Beetle.
